1. Intro This isn’t a ranking of the websites people visit most frequently, but instead is a ranking of websites that are significant in terms of what kinds of people are visiting them. What makes a website significant? It has to be useful. It has to be interesting. It has to be something worth spending time on. This list is not meant to be definitive, but rather is meant as an easy-to-understand reference for someone who wants to find out which websites might be worth visiting or at least worthwhile looking at. The purpose is not only to find those sites that matter most, but also to identify those that matter least. The list does not claim any kind of order or significance for specific brands and their representatives, but instead focuses on what matters most in terms of the content offered by having earned a place in this top ten list (in no particular order). 2. Youtube There are many questions people ask me on a regular basis that I feel like I should answer, but never do. On the other hand, if you visit it and find that while there might be 1 million page views per month — which is low by any measure — there isn’t much content on the site: just links from other sites (which aren’t even relevant), then you can safely conclude that this one doesn’t really work out well for anyone using it as their go-to resource for news/information. Of course, especially since most webmasters don’t use any analytics services like Google Analytics or Moz Analytics, this method isn’t very reliable at all times and might be inaccurate overall if we take too many factors into account. It also doesn’t take into account 5. LinkedIn It seems that it is common knowledge that LinkedIn is the top 10 websites in the world to visit. But who are these people? It’s hard to tell due to the fact that this list was compiled by a programmer, so much of it depends on his or her interpretation. Here are some key factors: 1) The site’s number of users is growing rapidly, so there’s a very good chance you don’t even know it exists. 2) It is hugely popular among business people (with over 250 million active members). 3) The site’s traffic is not going down at all — it seems to be growing at a pace more than twice as fast as the population of the US. 4) The site has been around for over 15 years and boasts over half a billion visitors a month. 5) Some of its traffic comes from search engines (it ranks #3 on Google), which means that any content written about this site will get search traffic. 6. ____ (fill in your favorite) _________ A top 10 website is a website that you visit regularly and don’t forget about. Find the website that has been featured on at least 10 other sites – for example, one that has appeared on TechCrunch, Mashable or Business Insider – and you’ve found a strong contender. If you want to target an audience who is already familiar with your product or service, you may need to create an in-house blog (and possibly a dedicated forum). If you want to target the wider audience, find an existing popular site and modify it for your purposes. There are lots of ways of doing this. 7. Imposterissus There are many websites on the internet that can claim to be the top 10 websites in the world, but most of them don’t have a ton of traffic. But I want to make it clear that they aren’t necessarily better than each other, they just have different qualities: For example: I think YouTube is by far the best video site out there; but it isn’t beating YouTube by any stretch; it is only slightly ahead of it when it comes to people visiting / watching videos on a daily basis; and the best part is, more people visit YouTube than any other site on earth (except maybe Facebook). It is a site that everyone should visit at least once in their lives — and if you don’t do so today, you won’t ever do so — and because of this I think YouTube should be declared #1 website in the world! But… why did I pick YouTube? Because it has a unique connection with its users/viewers — who, as we all know perfectly well, tend to be elitist ivory tower types — and because of this I think youtube should be declared #1 website in the world! Here are some other sites that might not make such good company: · · www.blippar.com (another photo sharing app) · · www.google-analytics-client-side-bundles (another analytics service similar to Google Analytics) People like these sites because they don't have much competition... almost all people are already using them anyway! So why would anyone want to change what's already popular? They might as well ride the wave! The only reason why someone might want to do something different would be if: 1) Their competitor was better or 2) They didn't have enough users, then they'd need more users or 3) Some new feature was relevant or 4) They could sell something else at higher price point than existing competitors were offering at that time... If any one of those things were true then yes it 8. Imposter is sus You’ve probably heard the phrase “top 10 websites in the world to visit”. It’s a fairly common one. But what does it mean? The term is often used to refer to a specific internet service provider or site, but it also refers to a specific feature that a website offers.
